Just some pictures; too lethargic for the literature, you know.
Biochem hall had always been welcoming.
From the first day in the College, when I went on a Wednesday to join for the course, I knew that this hall was going to be the most important place in my campus life. While entering through the right hand side door adjacent to the Union hall, I always felt like the hall would each time stand up to embrace the ones entering into it. But I was quite unfortunate due to my laziness, and always was greeted with a tired hug, for I made to the class as the last person on almost all the theory class days, as the Mr. Late, and then the hall would either turn its back on me, or nod me in with the disgusting look of an intolerant associate!

I didn't do anything. I just was looking into things, you know!
Settukkunnu is two kilometers up 6th Mile, which itself is about 12 kilometers of quiet drive from my place. This place has always had lots of plants and shrewd shrubs besides coffee, and has always been non-hesitant when it comes to flowering.

The coffee plants, upon the arrival of an unexpected rain in February, blossom, as if they had been waiting impatiently for its arrival, like ladies married to soldiers, and usually flower into shameless garlands on any time on the drooping branches of those exorbitant coffee plants.

And even the seeds, half dead and rotten from longing, will stay back and push the thriving fruits forward and gleefully exhibit the triumph of nature, on night over shadows, love over loss and longing over lust.

One day I shall take you there, to my garden,
And we shall smell the fruits,
Touch the pollens and caress the petals
Until you fall asleep on the lap of an evergreen tamarind tree, my dear...
When they come to Wayanad, I had promised, to take the children to my garden, where coffee berries were ripening as the winter was fading to February. But they came late and by the time I was free to attend to them, it was dusk already. So, the kids, who were enthusiastic to visit MP uncle's garden, had to sip their milk-coffees in silence, for the bitterness of misssing a trip to the garden had had stuck to their memories like chicory on a coffee lover's palate! They were uneasy and quite unpleasant about the visit as they bid goodbye after dinner, until I promised to send them pictures of the ripe little coffee cherries of Vythiri.
Thus I managed to receive some hurried hugs, late little kisses and some sweet goodbyes from my little friends.
6.30 am:
I had to wake up at 5.30 yesterday to attend to a patient who had come from the plantations. After disposing him off, I tried to sleep but after a few futile attempts, I got up to turn the water heater on. The watch showed 20 minutes past 6, but there still was night outside the window. Through the gap for the ventillation fan, something unusual sneaked in, without asking me. It was damp and was shivering from the cold of the night, that came in in a hurry, leaving me bemused about the complex ways of the Nature.

7.00 am:
I was angry. I didnt like the way it brushed past me. Then I thought, may be the wind, that came along, had touched my neck with its cold fingers, not the silent intruder. I was uneasy initially, but as the water had steamed up, I went to take a hot shower.

7.40 am:
For quite some time after bath, I forgot about my guest. While drying up before the mirror in a First-block-mens'-hostel way, I was completely absorbed in the song Mann Mohanaa from Jodhaa Akbar. Bela Shende, in her enchanting voice, was singing like a Gopika who had been longing for Krishn to appear before her, to embrace her in an eternal dance.

8.30 am:
After break-fast, before getting into the OPD, suddenly the thought that I had locked the visitor in, flashed to my mind. It will be long, if I start seeing patients, to go back to the room and speak with it, so I hurried back to the room, where I heard whisperings coming out through the key hole, and thought that my guest has gone mad at me.

9.10 am:
But for my surprise, he had invited more firends to join and they were dancing in my room as if they were drunk, running from walls to the ceiling and bombarding on the mirror and the chimes hung on the door, giggling and burping all the way, in between their mischievous smiles.

10.15 am:
It's been high mroning and they still were in my room, and his friends had gone to all the houses in the town, from where they were reluctant to part for a long time.I felt happy for them and for myself and for all the people around me.
Then the Sun got angry at around 11 am and brushed them off in a single stroke, to scorch the land in Vythiri hot and humid...
Friends,
As you all know, the grand re-union of the 35th batch is on April 20th, 2008. Being the vacation time for school going kids, April is the best month to chose for a family get together. Lots of people have shown vigorous interest to participate, but the venue is yet to be decided. It's been a long time since most of us have met each other, isn't it?

I am presently in Wayanad, Vythiri to be precise. I've been having my clinical practice in Vythiri for over 7 years. The reasons for my love to Wayanad are numerous, though the climate, the air, the hills and the Chembra peak, the plantations and its beautiful people, are among the few.

In Vythiri, the climate is more or like being in an air-conditioned open air theatre, through out the year. There are vast landscapes, beautiful hills with their lofty peaks, perennial springs and waterfalls, luxuriant forests and more than that, it's people, an ever welcoming population, waiting to meet you.

As you climb 700 meters above sea level through the Thamarassery Ghat Pass, you reach Lakkidi, the gateway to Wayanad. Its 55 kms from Kozhikkode. The roads, being the NH 212 to Bangalore, are good and mostly rubberized, makes it possible to reach Wayanad in an hour and a few minutes from Calicut. The valley-view,the clouds and its sleeping mountains, the mist and the people friendly monkeys are the main attractions at Lakkidi.

Pookot is near to the highway, has a beautiful freshwater lake that most of us might have visited during our College days. Situated amidst the surrounding green meadows, the walk around the lake is an ever refreshing one. There are facilities for row and pedal boating and the time spent together on a boat in the placid waters of this effervescent lake will be an unforgettable experience.

As you drive towards Kalpetta, you reach Vythiri, the place nestled between the Chembra mountains and the Sugandhagiri cardamom plantations. The msot attractive spot here has the Vythiri Clinic in it and its evergreen doc, that's me, hahahahaha!
